Everyone in New York keeps saying to me, "You got Wendy Ortiz for your reading??" I might have to live stream the L.A. event to appease them. Do you have any upcoming plans to read in New York?
Really?? This is so lovely to know. Thank you for telling me. I don't have any upcoming plans to read in New York. I've had the pleasure of reading there at past Franklin Park Reading Series events hosted by the amazing Penina Roth. My only plan (which is more a fantasy at this stage) is to go to New York for five days with the intention of specific interviews in specific locations.
Your second book, Hollywood Notebook, "a prose poem-ish memoir of fragments," was recently re-printed. How have your feelings changed about the book since it was first published in 2015?
I have more compassion for the selves I was when I was writing the book.
I'm just in L.A. for the week. Where should I visit while I'm in town?
Go to the ocean and just look at it for a really long time. That's really my best suggestion for a lot of things.
What can people expect from your reading?
I'm not sure I know what to expect!
