Your tweets are often very funny. Two recent Good Ones involve DMX and Timothee Chalamet, respectively. Do you have any advice for people who want to improve the quality of their own short form writing?

Why, thank you! Honestly, my advice is probably to save your cleverest thoughts to use in something more substantial than a tweet..... Often I feel like I'm putting my energies in the wrong place. But also, have an audience in mind. I'm usually just trying to make my friends laugh.

You're a contributing writer/food critic at the New Yorker. Your writing about food is so good. I especially enjoyed your recent piece about pasta. I don't really have a question here. I just wanted to link to your pasta piece.

You're too kind. It IS about the pasta!! Also, have you ever seen the pasta episode of Portlandia, "Winter in Portlandia," from season 3? It's so funny. I referenced it in the first draft of that piece, but it got cut.

It's almost March. What's your favorite thing to do in New York in Spring?

It's to feel happy and hopeful again after reaching peak gloom in the final weeks of winter! Achieved mostly just by being outside, walking down any old street, wearing a light jacket, listening to music.

What can people expect from your reading?

Expectations only lead to disappointment, Ryan.
